GHT Local Rules for Competition
These Local Rules have been put into place for all tournaments run by the Golden Horseshoe Tour and the Committee.
Local Rules/Conditions of Competition
Play is governed by the current RCGA Rules of Golf. Appendix I refers to the Appendix of the Local Rules in the current Golf Canada Rules of Golf. Unless otherwise specified, penalty for breach of a Local Rule Condition is two (2) strokes.
Tees: All competitors shall play from the tees specified at the duration of play from the host course. It is the player's responsibility toverify before commencing play which tees the competition is being played from.
1. Stones in Bunkers - Stones in bunkers are movable obstructions (Rule 24-1 applies)
2. Out of Bounds - Defined by white stakes or boundary fences. All other areas not defined by hazard stakes or lines are deemed to be "Through the Green".
3. Water Hazards and Lateral Water Hazards - If a water hazard or lateral water hazard is not clearly defined by stakes or lines, cut of rough and long grass will be used to define hazard boundary. If this is not apparent than group must come to an agreement to outline boundary for point of entry. If a water hazard is not marked by stakes or lines play all water hazards as a Lateral Water Hazard and proceed under Rule 26-1 a,b,or c.
4. Seams of Cut Turf or Newly Soded Areas - A ball coming to rest on any newly soded area or resting in a seam of cut turf, a player may take full relief, no closer to the hole.
5. Relief for Embedded Ball Through the Green - Through the Green a ball that is embedded in it's own pitch mark in the ground may be lifted, without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to where it lay but not nearer the hole. The ball when dropped must first strike a part of the golf course through the green.
6. Aeration Holes - Through the Green, a ball that comes to rest in or on an aeration hole may be lifted, without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to the spot it lay but not nearer the hole. The ball when dropped must first strike a part of the golf course through the green.
On the putting green, a ball that comes to rest in or on an aeration hole may be placed at the nearest spot not nearer the hole that avoids the situation.
7. Distance Measuring Devices - Distance Measuring Devices are permitted for distance only, not slope or wind.
