2016 REGISTRATION

 

CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION AND STANDARD LOCAL RULES
Play is governed by the current Rules of Golf of The R&A, the current R&A Decisions on the Rules of Golf and where applicable, by the following Local Rules and Conditions of Competition, subject to changes, additions or deletions for particular Championships by the Grey Goose World Par 3 Championship Rules Committee. The player’s attention is drawn to Conditions of the Competition and Standard Local Rules as printed below. Complete text of Rules and Appendix I Part A, B, C may be found in the 2016 R&A Rules of Golf.  Unless otherwise noted, penalty for breach of a Local Rule or Condition is two (2) strokes in stroke play.

ELIGIBILITY
This competition is open to professional and amateur golfers who are members in good standing with the PGA of Bermuda or other Association.
PROFESSIONAL DIVISION: This competition is open to all PGA professionals in good standing with their member association.
MEN’S AMATEUR DIVISION: This competition is open to all male amateurs in good standing with their member association.
WOMEN’S AMATEUR DIVISION: This competition is open to all female amateurs in good standing with their member association. This division will be contested from a shortened set of tee-markers.
SENIOR AMATEUR DIVISION: Lionel Pengelly Memorial Trophy: This competition is open to all amateurs who have reached their 55th birthday by the first scheduled day of the championship, March 11, 2016.  
All applications are subject to approval or rejection by the Tournament Committee at any time before or after the start of play.

CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD
The championship field for 2016 will be 144 competitors comprised of the following:
PROFESSIONAL DIVISION: 72 competitors*
MEN’S AMATEUR DIVISION: 48 competitors
WOMEN’S AMATEUR DIVISION: 12 competitors
SENIOR AMATEUR DIVISION: 12 competitors
*if Professional Division does not fill, additional spots to go to Men’s Amateur Division, then Women’s Amateur Division, followed by Senior Amateur Division. All spots for non-qualified, non-exempt amateurs will be determined by Handicap.

EXEMPTIONS
1. Past five (5) World Par 3 Champions
2. From 2015 World Par 3 Championship
   a. Professional Division – top 15 and ties
   b. Men’s Amateur Division – top 10 and ties
   c. Women’s Amateur Division – top 5 and ties
   d. Senior Amateur Division – top 5 and ties
3. Top 5 on the PGA of Canada Player Rankings presented by RBC as of January 1, 2016
4. Top finisher in each division from the Bacardi Par 3 Championship
5. Up to ten (10) places for prominent professional golfers not otherwise exempt.  These places to be granted at the sole discretion of the PGA of Canada.

PRIZE MONEY
In the event of ties for the Professional Division, prize money will be divided equally among those tied, except that if a competitor wins a playoff for the Championship, he or she will receive first place prize money.

APPLICATION FEE & PROCEDURE
1. All applications must on the official application printed from www.pgaofcanada.com.
2. The application fee of $300 USD for professionals or $250 USD for amateurs (plus processing fees) must accompany the application.  Credit card users, please print all numbers clearly.
3. All applications must be received by the PGA of Canada, 13450 Dublin Line, RR1, Acton, ON L7J 2W7 prior to Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 4:00 pm EDT (Eastern Daylight Time).  Late, incomplete or inaccurate applications will not be accepted, and are not the responsibility of the PGA of Canada.
4. Entries will not be accepted without full remittance of an entry fee.
5. Applications fees will be refunded if the PGA of Canada is notified in writing of the player’s intention to withdraw prior to the application closing date.  Application fees will not be refunded after the application deadline without a medical certificate.  Refunds are subject to a $75 service charge.

REGISTRATION AT TURTLE HILL GOLF CLUB
Players must register at the Grey Goose Hospitality Suite at Turtle Hill Golf Club on Thursday, March 10, 2016 between 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. If you cannot register on Friday, simply contact Adam LeBrun to confirm your attendance at the championship and arrangements will be made for you to register on Friday morning. PRO-AM
The Pro-Am is March 13, 2016 at 8:30 am.  The top 15 professionals from the 2016 Grey Goose World Par 3 Championship will be selected to play in the Pro-Am.  The remaining Professionals will be selected at the request of the sponsor and/or participating amateur teams. Please keep this in mind when booking your travel.

PLAYOFFS
A tie for any Division will be decided by a hole-by-hole playoff immediately following conclusion of play.  Any competitor involved in a playoff and not immediately available assumes the last playoff position.  Multiple no-shows for playoffs shall be decided by lot.

CADDIES
1. The use of caddies is not compulsory.  Neither the Tournament Committee nor the host club is responsible for securing caddies for competitors who desire them.
2. Pull carts (including those motorized) are permitted.
3. Caddies must adhere to the Caddie Guidelines.  
4. Caddies must wear flat-soled shoes.  Violation of this condition may result in DISQUALIFICATION of the competitor.

RULES OF GOLF; CLOSE OF COMPETITION; CONFORMING GOLF BALLS; CONFORMING DRIVERS
1. The Rules of The R&A govern play as modified by the Local Rules within this document. Supplementary Local Rules will be given to each competitor at the player’s first tee.  Local Rules on the host club score cards shall not apply.  The Tournament Committee shall have the final decision on all claims and disputes. 
2. The competition is deemed to have closed when the Tournament Committee has approved all scores.
3. Appendix I, Part C, Section 1b – The ball the player plays must be named on the current List of Conforming Golf Balls recognized by The R&A. 
4. Appendix I, Part C, Section 1a – The driver a player carries must have a club head that is listed on the most current List of Conforming Driver Heads recognized by The R&A.

TRANSPORTATION
Competitors shall walk at all times during a stipulated round, including the official practice round. In exceptional circumstances, the Tournament Committee will evaluate each individual request to use motorized transportation in the Grey Goose World Par 3 Championship due to a claimed disability. In order for the Tournament Committee to properly evaluate such requests, it is necessary to submit medical documentation stating the exact nature of the disability and how that disability prevents such player from walking during a stipulated round. In addition, players will have to submit sufficient information to enable the Tournament Committee to determine that providing a cart would not provide a player with an advantage over other players. Please visit www.pgaofcanada.com to download via Adobe Acrobat Reader a copy of the PGA of Canada Transportation Request Form, which each player seeking a golf cart due to a disability must complete and submit to the Tournament Committee with the original entry form prior to the applicable closing date.
EXCEPTION: Any competitor in the Senior Division may use motorized transportation.

PENALTY FOR BREACH OF THIS CONDITION: See Penalty Statement in Appendix I, Part C, Section 9

DISTANCE-MEASURING DEVICES
The Note to Rule 14-3 is in effect.  In this competition, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used.

DRESS CODE AND FOOTWEAR
1. Competitors must adhere to the Turtle Hill Golf Club Dress Code which is available at http://www.fairmont.com/southampton-bermuda/golf/amenities-and-services/.   
2. It is a condition of the Grey Goose World Par 3 Championship that shoes with metal or traditionally designed spikes (regardless of composition, i.e., ceramic, plastic, etc.) are prohibited.   Penalty for breach of this condition is DISQUALIFICATION.

TIME OF STARTING  
All players in a group must be present and READY TO PLAY at the time laid down by the Committee.  The order of play is not relevant.  READY TO PLAY is defined as being on or near the player's first tee accompanied with the necessary equipment needed to put a ball in play.  Notification by a Championship Rules Official will be given to late starters on the first tee or as soon as practicable.
